The Italcertifer Laboratories team is multidisciplinary, highly qualified, as well as integrated and focused on responding to the clients and their needs, even when these needs require the development of new measurement and analysis methodologies.

The achievement of the expected results is possible thanks to the high technical competence of our staff supported by the availability of technologically advanced instrumentation, systems and resources managed by our internal Metrological Laboratory and by a solid Quality Management System that constantly supports the conducting test activities and their development.

Our goal is to provide the client with a capable, flexible and focused service on achieving the objectives we have defined together!

Italcertifer S.p.A. Laboratories are UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 multi-site accreditated - Accreditation Certificate n. 1490 L - for the sites of Firenze Osmannoro and Roma Termini. The structure provides services for the execution of tests and measurements on rolling stock and their components, on railway plants and infrastructure, concerning mechanical, braking, electrical and signalling systems as well as environmental and Health measurements.

Inside Italcertifer S.p.A. Laboratories, in agreement with the Management and the team of Managers, the Quality Management Systems structure  implements all the actions and initiatives necessary to define, monitor and continuously improve the quality standards required by the company, by the Assessment Bodies and above all by the Clients of the Lab.

Our main strengths are:

  • the collection and analysis of Customer Satisfaction, careful handling of claimss, and support to the customer in all stagesof the process;
  • the surveillance and maintenance of the high standards of training and qualification of the technical personnel that have always characterized the Italcertifer Laboratories;
  • the organization of periodic coordination meetings between the various structures of the Laboratory in order to develop in an integrated manner and smoothly execute multidisciplinary projects, thus allowing maximum flexibility towards customer needs.

The "Laboratories Quality Structure" also carries out all the necessary actions to maintain the laboratory's awards and to obtain new qualifications.

Finally, the "Laboratories Quality Structure" offers services for preparing and/or supporting the development of Management Systems for test laboratories in accordance with the reference standard UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 and any support to the laboratory to undertake the accreditation process at the reference Accreditation Body.

 

The internal calibration laboratory maintains the calibration status of the sensors and measuring equipment of the laboratories intended for on-line tests or part of the test benches.

It is a strategic aspect for us and for our customers to have an internal Metrology Laboratory since this allows us to promptly respond to sudden needs or critical issues, as well as guaranteeing a deep knowledge of the instrumentation in use.

The verification of the metrological characteristics of the instrumentation takes place by means of certified measurement standards at the National Metrological Institutes or at accredited calibration centres to guarantee the traceability of the measurements. The calibration operations are carried out in accordance with defined and validated procedures; all documentation relating to measurement equipment is suitably filed and traced. The calibration staff is suitably qualified, and their skills are continuously monitored and updated in order to ensure a high level of quality of the measurement processes.

The Italcertifer Calibration Laboratory stands out for its ability to operate on most of the physical quantities of interest: temperature, mass, acceleration, pressure, force, length, plane angle, flow rate, UV irradiance, medium voltage and all the classic electrical quantities .

It can also prepare a fine-tuning of measuring instruments for specific needs and develop technical procedures for calibration or ad hoc measurement processes, in relation to the particular needs of the railway sector.

Italcertifer S.p.A. Laboratories carry out measurement activities related to the safety and quality assessment of railway rolling stock and similar components. The challenges to be faced are characterized by a high level of complexity, since, on the one hand they have to respond to the necessity to carry out measurements in extreme work environments and, on the other hand, to the request to maintain high reliability of the results and their visualization in strict times.

The company's effort is aimed at solving ever new problems linked to the development and technological advancement of the “railway world”, and for this reason it is necessary to have research & development activities that have the aim of keeping up with the times continuing to guarantee the reliability and safety that distinguishes it from the others.

Research and development are carried out with multidisciplinary transversal activities for the following aspects:

  • Development of new cutting-edge measurement techniques;
  • Acquisition of know-how of new instrumentation and acquisition systems;
  • Development of SW for analysis and data processing.

In carrying out this activity, the Italcertifer company cooperates with numerous universities through participation in training courses through dissertation theses, research grants and PhD doctoral activities. Some of the results obtained are shared with the scientific community through participation in congresses and publications in national and international journals.
