In accordance with art. 2 paragraph 4 of the Italian Legislative Decree 50/2019, the railway networks isolated from the functional point of view from the rest of the railway system are those granted by the State and those for which the functions and tasks of programming and administration used for local railway services ordinarily performed with spacing regulated by signals as per the Legislative Decree n. 422 of the 19th November 1997 are attributed to the Regional governments.

The isolated railway networks, identified with the Decree of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport prot. 347 of 02/08/2019, are the following:

  • Genoa - Casella, AMT (Liguria)
  • Brescia - Iseo - Edolo, Ferrovienord (Lombardy)
  • Turin - Ceres, GTT S.p.A. (Piedmont)
  • Domodossola - Swiss border, SSIF S.p.A. (Piedmont)
  • Rome - Lido and Rome - Civitacastellana - Viterbo, ATAC S.p.A. (Lazio)
  • Entire network of Ferrovie della Calabria S.r.l. (Calabria)
  • Catania Borgo - Riposto - extra-urban section, Ferrovia Circumetnea (Sicily)
  • Entire network of FAL S.r.l. (Puglia and Basilicata)
  • Entire ARST S.p.A. network (Sardinia)
  • Ferrovia Circumvesuviana and Ferrovia Cumana e Circumflegrea, EAV (Campania).

As part of the aforementioned Isolated Networks, since these are excluded from the scope of application of Directive 2016/798 / EC, Italcertifer operates as an Independent Railway Body (OIF) carrying out tasks relating to railway safety, on the basis of national regulations not subject to notification for the the authorizations of fixed installations and railway vehicles on behalf of its customers.

Italcertifer has been recognized by ANSFISA as an Independent Railway Organization - Organismo Indipendenti Ferroviario (OIF) with Decree no. 7786 of 19/05/2020.
