Railway infrastructure is one of the fixed installations that form the so-called "railway system", which is technically broken down into several "subsystems".
The “infrastructure subsystem” comprises track, points, level crossings, engineering structures (bridges, tunnels, etc.), rail-related elements of stations (including entrances, platforms, zones of access, information systems, as well as their accessibility features for persons with disabilities and persons with reduced mobility, tec.), safety and protective equipment.

Outside the scope of Italian and European legislation, Italcertifer carries out conformity assessments for the infrastructure subsystem such as Independent Safety Assessor, Independent Competent Person (ICP), Independent Checking Engineer e Safety Verification Engineer.
