Railway infrastructure is one of the fixed installations that form the so-called "railway system", which is technically broken down into several "subsystems".

The “infrastructure subsystem” comprises track, points, level crossings, engineering structures (bridges, tunnels, etc.), rail-related elements of stations (including entrances, platforms, zones of access, information systems, as well as their accessibility features for persons with disabilities and persons with reduced mobility, tec.), safety and protective equipment.

Within the framework of the infrastructure subsystem, Italcertifer performs assessments as:

 

Outside the scope of Italian and European legislation, Italcertifer carries out conformity assessments for the infrastructure subsystem such as Independent Safety AssessorIndependent Competent Person (ICP), Independent Checking Engineer e Safety Verification Engineer.

Irrespective of the scope of application, assessment activities are carried out applying the same methodologies and the same degree of professionalism, independence and impartiality for the purpose of making sound and objective technical judgments.
